This weekend I had the fantastic opportunity to be able to speak at a state event on scoliosis. What made it even more special was that I had an amazing support group there to listen and smile at me in the crowd! My Aunt Lynn, Uncle Bill, Aunt Beth, Mimi, Mom, Dad, and little brother, Reid, were all there. I also had an extra special guest in the audience, Mary Lou Oliver, the Senior Program  Director of Children’s Heathcare of Atlanta’s Scoliosis Screening Program. Thanks to their support and a lot of practice, I was able to make it through the speech without any stumbles or mishaps. Thanks guys!

  1. Summer, it was an absolute honor and privilege to attend the event you made mention of. Your aunt and I were so very happy and excited for you in the ways you conducted yourself as well as the raving beauty you have become as you are so very much a lady while taking advantage of the gifts and talents the Lord blessed you with! We hope you see the benefits of praising God as He continues to shower you with His love and provision for you. Your entire family loves you and thanks the Lord Jesus for you. Keep on keeping on….you GO girl!!!! May this devotional give you an added understanding and appreciation for your courageous efforts in dealing with Scoliosis as well as all of life. It’s titled “Victorious Living”: Here are three keys to victorious living: (1) PERSEVERANCE. Dr. G. Campbell Morgan tells of a man whose shop burned to the ground. The next morning he set up shop in the middle of the charred ruins and put up a sign that read, “Everything lost except wife, children and hope-business as usual tomorrow morning.” So get back up again! “Blessed is the man who perserveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life.” (James 1:12 NIV). (2) PURPOSE. Helen Keller wrote, “Many persons have the wrong idea about what constitutes true happiness. It is not attained through self-gratification, but through fidelity to a worthy purpose.” Jesus said, “The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve.” (Mark 10:45 NKJV). Don’t pray for a generous heart, practice being generous and your heart will fall in line with your actions. As long as you are a sower, God will give you seed (See 2Corinthians 9:10). (3) PERSPECTIVE. Your disappointment may turn out to be God’s appointment. “In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps” (See Proverbs 16:9). Remember how an oyster makes a pearl? When a grain of sand gets into its shell, the oyster wraps it in layer after layer of beauty until a pearl is formed. The poet wrote: “This tale has a moral, for isn’t it grand, what an oyster can do with a morsel of sand? And what couldn’t we do, if we’d only begin, with some of the things that get under our skin.” Get the right perspective. Try to see “God” at work in what you are going through today! Summer, Congrats and keep doing your best. God gives His best to us so just continue to show your gratitude. We are all here to help if you so need any. Our love and tell everyone, “Howdy”.
