Out of the Woods?

Standard

So, I had my x-rays today, but I left Children’s Radiology Center without results, so in essence, I’m still waiting, even though the act itself is over. As anyone can tell you, getting x-rays are pretty stressful. You are constantly wondering, “Are my curves worse?”, “Are my curves better”, “Did nothing happen? Are they the same degrees as last time?”, “Are we finally out of the woods?”, “Is surgery out of sight yet?”, “Is the brace still working correctly?”, “Are we done with the brace?” It’s a repeating record in your head of questions that this x-ray will answer or bring up.

Hopefully, this x-ray will be positive. I’ve been out of the brace 5 hours a day and went entirely without a brace 48 hours before the x-ray. At this point, I’m done growing and I’m weaning off of the brace, so it’s a make or break point.

Different people handle the anxiousness in different ways — music, prayer, friends, books, etc.
For instance today, a friend sent me the kindest and most thoughtful message saying that she was praying for me and for Jesus to heal me. It was instantly calming. And as I wait for the results to come back, I can continue to pray, listen to Taylor Swift for the 50,000th time (by the way did anyone notice the title?), work through school work, etc.
And I encourage you to find your equivalents next time you have an x-ray.

  1. HEY, SUMMER !!! Encouragement is a wonderful thing. The Bible refers to ‘it’ several times and so within those good instructions we are to build each other up and cherish everyone with respect and love.
It is distressing that children and young adults have to deal with such troubling and debilitating issues such as scoliosis…but such is life. Thus encouragement from friends and family and others with experience, knowledge and understanding is critical to the attainment of positive results. Prayers for healing and guidance and encouragement can never be underestimated and I would believe are the first line of defense and offense. Your friend is to be commended and thanked for her support, most importantly for her prayers and for caring.
Your aunt and I will do our own part on your behalf and for others among your group. Each and everyone one of you young people are gifts from God, blessings to all. We are thankful for you and for the chance to show our love for God and unto you (all). I realize we don’t have to deal with the doubt, the anxiety, the physical pains and discomforts – maybe even embarrassments and that we rarely get to see you and spend time with you. Just know you are always within our hearts and prayers. Your well being is important to us.
Your results and the X-ray reviews will be GOOD !!! Believe that ! Let us know when we are to rejoice because I can’t jump up and down without a really good reason or I may have to borrow your brace to recuperate. Anyway, our love and prayers, our love and respect, our love and hope and our love and encouragement. Be Well !!! Take Care !! Blessings !
PS: Know matter how much encouragement you re given and sent, you deserve great credit for your positive attitude. Your can do, “I will not be defeated” attitude goes a long, long way to ‘being okay’. Also, God always answers prayers though not always in our time and to our liking…but always believe He rewards honest, loving, caring efforts. Everyone has thorns to deal with but not everyone realizes the rose bouquet that comes with them. Love ‘Ya !!!
